Adam Dyjach
Originally from Waterloo Ontario, Adam commenced his musical education at Wilfrid Laurier University in Voice Performance under the direction of Kimberly Barber. He now resides in Victoria, BC where he completed his Masters in Voice Performance with Benjamin Butterfield at the University of Victoria.
Adam grew up involved in musical performance and has been teaching music for over 7 years both privately and through various music schools. Although trained classically he believes that the fundamentals of proper vocal function are universal and can be applied to all genres and styles of music. His teaching style focuses on functional training that allows for healthy, flexible and free singing. Adam has attended levels I, II and III of Somatic Voicework ™ The LoVetri Method (2021, 2024) and incorporates its principles into his teaching. He is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and has attended the Northwestern Regional Conference in Seattle in November of 2023 as well as the National Conference in Knoxville Tennessee in June of 2024. NATS offers a variety of learning experiences to its members, with workshops, intern programs, master classes and conferences. He is also a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association. This organization gives opportunities to students such as scholarships, masterclasses, recitals and other performance opportunities.
Describing his core philosophy behind teaching, he says: “The voice is a means of communication. It is important that we, as singers and artists, have the necessary tools to produce the sounds that different styles of music require. Only then can we sing and convey the meaning of the music as well as the text with complete freedom and ease. My mission is to help my students discover their own authentic voice and to empower them to use it with confidence as a means of expressing themselves”.
Past performance highlights include: Tenor soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (Vancouver Island Symphony), the Evangelist in Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium and Tenor Soloist in his Magnificat (Sooke Philharmonic Choir, Malaspina Choir), Brahm’s Zigeunerlieder (Linden Singers) Bach’s Cantata 196, 40, Missa in G, and Handel’s Messiah (Handel Society of Music), Haydn’s Spatzenmesse and Missa Sancti Nicolai, Bach Cantata No. 40 as well as Mozart’s Litaniae de venerabili altaris sacramento in Bb major, KV 125 (Bach on the Rock) and Requiem in D minor (Parksville Community Choir), Verdi's Messa da Requiem and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass (North Island Choral Society), Orff’s Carmina Burana (Vancouver Island Symphony, Ballet Victoria), Bach’s Coffee Cantata, Christoph Graupner’s Herr nun lässest du deinen Diener and Johann Kuhnau’s Mein Alter kömmt, ich kann nicht sterben (Pacific Baroque Festival), Haydn’s Creation (Via Choralis) , Bach's Cantatas BWV 99, 125 and 155, (Victoria Baroque Players) and the Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 (Victoria Philharmonic Choir) and Frederic in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance (Victoria G & S Society)
He has performed the Operatic roles of Sumers in Cimarosa’s L’italiana in Londra, Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Oronte in Handel’s Alcina, Romeo in Neil Weisensal’s City Workers in Love, The Doctor in David Foley’s May 23rd and Monostatos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.

He has also sang with the Schooner Cove Singers, St. Christopher Singers, Timbre, Victoria Philharmonic Choir, Victoria Choral Society and Pacific Opera Victoria Chorus. Adam currently sings at Fairfield United and St. John Henry Newman churches and with the Vancouver Island Chamber Choir. In addition to performing, Adam teaches music lessons out of his home studio AD Music and at the Taber Music School. Adam was also a lead instructor for the online teaching platform Singdaptive between 2021-2023.
“I have always loved singing but I find it difficult to sing in front of others and lessons can be expensive. Adam’s skills, kind demeanor and affordable prices allowed me to continue with singing lessons when I otherwise could not have. His willingness to find songs I enjoyed and his attention to technique and detail made the lessons both fun and useful. I found his feedback very specific and therefore easy to remember and apply when singing outside of the lesson. I would recommend Adam to anyone looking for a vocal coach, especially those who are nervous or timid like myself!”
